Manufacturing Award

Celebrating the contribution of manufacturers to the Calderdale economy, this award recognises manufacturing businesses with fewer than 249 employees who have delivered consistent growth and who demonstrate innovative products and processes and a fully engaged workforce.

This award will go to the manufacturer who can show quality and innovative products / processes created utilising outstanding initiative and efficiency. They will have a proven track record as a good employer. Entrants to this award will be expected to demonstrate sustainable growth and where appropriate the flexibility to pivot the business.

The judges will be looking for strong growth, innovation and leadership as well as a clear vision.                                      

The Judges are looking for evidence of:                               

• Evidence of product development (R&D) especially new innovative products

• Strong leadership and development of talent with a commitment to staff development & training and employee satisfaction

• Constant improvements to their processes to increase productivity
• Environmental awareness and a commitment to reduce their carbon footprint
• How the business contributes to Calderdale as a place and the local community as an ambassador for the area and any links with local schools
• All leading to a strong financial performance and continued growth of the business

Eligibility

• Based in Calderdale
• Meets the UK government definition of SMEs which encompasses micro (less than 10 employees and an annual turnover under €2 million), small (less than 50 employees and an annual turnover under €10 million) and medium-sized (less than 250 employees and an annual turnover under €50 million) businesses
• Profitable
• Can demonstrate consistent growth over the last 3 years
