August Event – Seasonal Displays

Greetings and a warm welcome to our Events Page.

Ordinarily BFC wouldn’t normally stage an August event, given that many people are taking their Summer holidays etc, however our August 11th hosts are no ordinary business and this event is one not to be missed!

A visit to Seasonal Displays, based at Brunswick Mill in Halifax, is both entertaining and inspiring and an opportunity to be a big kid for a couple of hours!

Please book your tickets early as space is limited.
We’ll meet at 5pm for a 5.30pm start until around 7pm.
As always, please book through Eventbrite and if you have any problems get in touch with David or Emma at Business for Calderdale.

Guest speaker 2 Garry Brown Head of Investment at the Key Fund.

A former Senior Business Manager with a leading High Street Bank Garry has over 25 years’ experience of providing lending to SME Businesses and is Head of Investment at the Key Fund.

Based in Sheffield, Key Fund is the UK’s biggest regional investor in the social economy that covers the North of England. As a social enterprise it is itself a social economy success story operating a loan fund where all of the returns received to the Key Fund are reinvested back into the sector.

Often lending without the comfort of asset backed security Key Fund offers loans to organisations that can’t access funds from conventional lenders. Relying instead on a thorough understanding of their clients needs in an enterprising cause and always with a truly social mission embedded at the heart of operations.

In pursuing its mission Key Fund believes that Business for Good is Good for Business – a belief that the future growth and potential for organisations wishing to deliver social impact is not only to be found in the realms of social enterprise but also in the broader arena that is less to do with legal definition and more about what a business does, the way that it does it and the difference it makes.

Please add this date to your diary and book early as places are limited. (5pm for a 5:30pm start). We look forward to seeing you there.

You’re Hired! – The Apprenticeship Event

Community Foundation for Calderdale in partnership

with Calderdale College ,Working Wonders ltd & Business for Calderdale present

‘You’re Hired’  – The Apprentice Event,

a unique event for employers and potential apprentices.

The event will be hosted at Calderdale College who were recently described by Ofsted as achieving ‘outstanding outcomes for apprenticeships’, by BBC Look North’s presenter Clare Frisby.

Clare is herself passionate about apprenticeships for young people.

Why attend

Ensuring the correct skills are in place, both within our existing and future work force is vital to the economy of the region. One of the cornerstones of this is Apprenticeships. Apprentices help businesses cut costs, fill skills and increase retention rates. However, many employers shy away from the scheme due to popular misconceptions and myths, or simply a lack of information.

If you’re an employer who is thinking about, or has existing apprentices in your workforce, you’re invited to join us on October 7th.

Guest speakers include:

  • Apprentice finalist  Clare Young
  • Apprentices who were funded by Community Foundation for Calderdale as part of the highly successful Mayoral campaign Cycle for Work.
  • Working Wonders Ltd a local charity offering funding of up to £3,000 per apprentice.
  • Local Training provider Calderdale College

Join us… To celebrate young people and apprenticeships
Hear how local firms & Calderdale College are designing courses to fit specific requirements in the modern-day workplace
Hear about apprenticeships from a young person’s perspective
Network with local business leaders
Enjoy refreshments provided by Calderdale College apprentices
