New Award celebrates your success stories.

Business for Calderdale has joined forces with the Halifax Courier to recognise achievements by businesses across Calderdale.

Business for Calderdale would like to present a monthly award to a business with the best business story submitted to the Courier. The winners will be further recognised at the Courier Business Awards when an overall winner for the year will receive a special award.

“The aim of Business For Calderdale is to provide links between businesses for the benefit of all involved. Business for Calderdale regularly meets at local businesses, who kindly open their doors to members, allowing us to explore and understand the many diverse and successful businesses we have within our community. This award will help celebrate and recognise this”

Nick Worsnop – Chair, Business for Calderdale.

Businesses will be judged monthly by the committee and will receive an award from Business For Calderdale.
Business for Calderdale has over 100 businesses as members from Sole Traders to Large Businesses trading and competing Globally. We welcome new members from any industry but particularly from local manufacturing businesses.

The Criteria for the awards will be:

• Business Initiative
• Significant Growth in Business or Orders (including exports)
• Business Development and expansion in Calderdale, UK or Overseas
• Job Creation (including apprenticeships)
• The Business typifies the Spirit and Creativity of Business Enterprise, innovation and corporate Social Responsibility in Calderdale.

The Courier will choose the stories it wishes to publish, and a monthly winner will be selected by the Business for Calderdale committee each month. We look forward to presenting the first award in June.

Social Enterprise Champions Programme

We’ve been asked to circulate this excellent training programme to our Members – please take a look and forward to any non members who may have an interest. Thank you.

The Social Enterprise Champions Programme aims to support leaders and managers of social enterprises and charities.  It offers a suite of workshops to drive sustained growth and build capacity to bid and deliver local services. There is also a mentoring element to this programme which can give one to one specific support for each charity/social enterprise.

This training is heavily subsidised by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership so the fee for each workshop is just £20 per participant. Volunteers are eligible where they are recognised as part of the unpaid staff team.

The programme is delivered as a partnership between Kirklees College, Crellin Consulting, Social Progress and CASE Futures and the workshops are being delivered in and around Huddersfield.

These are now open to private sector businesses as well and to organisation across the Leeds City Region.

Workshops are:
